Primer is a low budget film that was an entry to the Sundance Film Festival in 2004, in which it won "The Grand Jury Prize". This film was rated PG-13, however it contains few (if any swearing). The reason it for the rating is because the plot & dialogue are smart and at times hard to follow.
The plot in a nutshell is two guys create a time machine in their garage. However, unlike other "time travel" movies this film does not toy with the idea of "send two guys back in time and have them mess something up so it messes up the future". Primer instead toys with the idea of multiple time dimensions happening at the same time.
This film is a movie that you would watch if you wanted to think about what is going on. There is no way that a viewer will be able to get everything this film is trying to convey in one, or two, viewings. Primer is a film that will lead to thoughtful conversations with others who saw the film. Overall, Primer is a well acted, thought provoking film that will leave you thinking "what just happened?"
